THE Arts Society Marina Alta’s next presentation takes place next Thursday, December 5, at Salones Canor in Teulada.
The final presentation of the 2019 season is an intriguing lecture by an outstanding speaker dealing with some of the 20th century’s most brilliant architectural projects.
Professor Clyde Binfield OBE, who graduated from Cambridge and became Professor Emeritus in History at Sheffield University, has a passion for buildings, their creators, construction and settings.

He will be exploring the rise and fall – and rise again – of Lutyens, one of Britain’s most respected 20th century architects.

Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens (1869-1944) was known for imaginatively adapting traditional architectural styles to the requirements of his era.

He designed many country houses and had an instrumental role in designing and building a section of New Delhi which later served as the seat of India’s government.

One of Lutyens’ most famous creations is Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, mother church of the Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool.

As usual after completing the presentation and answering questions, the Arts Society will be offering a glass of wine or soft drink, allowing members and guests to meet the speaker, committee and, of course, each other while perhaps sharing a seasonal mince pie.

More information on the Arts Society and directions to the venue are available from the www.marinaaltaarts.com website. For membership details, email Jane at membership@marinaaltaarts.com
