YOUNG Teulada-Moraira yachtsman Joel Ferrer was the only Spanish participant in the international Halloween Cup regatta. Held at the beginning of this month on Lake Garda between Italy and Switzerland, more than 600 people competed in the regatta in which Joel was ranked 279 overall, although in one of the legs he was amongst the top 27 participants. The Lake Garda race was the culmination of a busy week as, together with other young members of Javea Yacht Club’s who sail A and B Optimist class craft, Joel took part in a course given by prestigious trainers Ricky and Sven Stadel. The course focused on sailing on interior waters where conditions are very different from the coastal waters that Javea’s sailors are used to.
