Understanding gender equality in Gibraltar

Talking to primary children about gender equality Credit: HM Government of Gibraltar

IT was recently International Men’s Day and the Department of Equality in Gibraltar delivered talks to a number of primary schools as part of an ongoing awareness campaign.

Particular emphasis was concentrated on gender stereotypes and how these stereotypes affect the way children think about men (and women) in society.

These talks form part of a wider educational drive to ensure that future generations challenge gender stereotypes that can affect people in a negative way and is one of a number of initiatives announced by the Department of Equality.

These talks will continue at other schools over the coming weeks to ensure that young Gibraltarians fully understand the message.
