TORONTO police have flushed out a man who threw poop at five people in three apparently random attacks.
Samuel Opoku, 23, who is accused of throwing buckets of faeces, was arrested Tuesday night in the downtown area and charged with five counts of assault with a weapon and five counts of mischief.
The attacks started on November 22 when a man entered Robarts Library on the University of Toronto campus and threw a bucket of “liquefied faecal matter” on two people, Toronto Police said in a press release.
On November 24, the man struck again, this time at Scott Library at York University in the city’s north end, hitting a man and a woman.
Next in line was a woman in the area of College and McCaul streets (also in the University of Toronto area) on November 25.
PC David Hopkinson said: “A young girl had a bucket of waste, faeces, dumped on her. I don’t know what to say, I’m at a loss, this is absolutely disgusting.”
Police spokesman Victor Kwong said that although all the victims are Asian, authorities do not believe the attacks were racially motivated.
“We don’t know if that’s the connection, because we have different parts of Asia in there,” he said.
Investigators have not yet established if the poop was human.
Opoku is scheduled to appear in court on November 27.
