LONDON BRIDGE has been put on lockdown after reports of a shooting in the area this afternoon (Friday, November 29).
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police confirm that they are dealing with an incident on London Bridge after they were called to reports of a stabbing at a premises near the bridge just before 2pm. A man has also been detained.
A video has also surfaced on social media which appears to show one armed police officer at the beginning of the north-side of the bridge crouched behind a police car aiming a gun. The video then moves to what appears to be a body on the pavement on the east side of the bridge.
A witness to the incident, who asked not to be named, told MyLondon that they saw a knifeman near London Bridge station. They then saw armed police arrive and shoot the man.
A journalist from the BBC has also revealed that he was in the area at the time and saw a group of men involved in a fight on the bridge. Police then arrived and shots were fired.
London Ambulance Service have also tweeted that they are on the scene.
