ENGLISH POLICE HORSE REFUSES TO GET UP AND START HIS SHIFT UNLESS IT GETS A CUPPA TEA Credit: Twitter
A VERY ENGLISH and rather pampered police horse, Jake, has to start his day with a giant mug of tea in bed otherwise he won’t start his shift.
Jake has been with Merseyside Police force for the past 15 years and is described as a horse with “character.” His tea drinking habit started when he once mischievously snatched a slurp of his rider’s brew one day and fell in love with the hot drink, so much so that he was soon asking for more from the comfort of his stable.
WATCH him in action:
We have a new episode of #wintermorningwakeups featuring Jake. Jake refuses to get out of bed until he is brought a warm cup of @tetleyuk tea. Once he has drank this he is ready for the day. #StandTall #PHJake #NotStandingAtAll #BrewInBed #TeaTaster pic.twitter.com/iJXm32hlad — Mer Pol Mounted (@MerPolMounted) November 20, 2019

Merseyside Police Mounted Section manager and trainer Lindsey Gaven explained, as stated in Metro, that Jake is one of 12 horses they have at the stable working with the Merseyside police. Lindsey describes him as a ‘horse with a lot of character.’ Apparently Jake likes his tea with skimmed milk, two heaped teaspoons of sugar and a little cold water, so it is not too hot. Trainer Gaven also informed that everyone had “learnt his tea order” that Jake could deal with one sugar, but is said to be definitely happier when you remember to give him two.
Euro Weekly News confirms that when not slurping the nation’s favourite drink, Jake can be seen working hard across Merseyside and often polices football matches as well as overseeing the Grand National numerous times.
After two decades of service for the English police force, Jake is set to retire next year.
