BRIGHTON seafront is on lockdown after three people were mowed down by a car during a brawl this morning (Sunday, November 30).
Officers were called to Marine Parade shortly after 5.20am after a report of a large group of people fighting with weapons. As police responded to the incident, some of the group are thought to have got into a vehicle which then hit three men who were involved in the fight.
The men were rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital, where it is reported that two of the victims have suffered serious head injuries.
The vehicle was later found abandoned and a 32-year-old man is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Chris Thompson from Sussex Police said:
“This is a fast moving investigation and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information about it to come forward.
“Marine Parade is currently closed between the pier roundabout and Camelford Street while we carry out enquiries and I would like to thank the public for their patience.”
As Euro Weekly News understands, detectives are not treating the incident as terror-related.
