AN ELDERLY woman has been seriously injured after being hit by an Emaya van in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The incident occurred around 11am this morning (December 3) in the El Rafal district in the capital. According to reports, the woman was struck by the large vehicle as she was crossing Calle Lledoners with her husband. Emergency services rushed to the scene, treating the woman on the road before she was transferred to Son Espases Hosptital. As Euro Weekly News understand, the victim is in a serious condition, suffering multiple injuries to her body. In a statement from Palma City Council, they say that they are supporting the woman’s family as well as the driver who “has been deeply affected by the incident.” An investigation will now be launched by the police to determine whether they will charge the individual who was driving the truck for reckless driving. Emaya is owned by the city council and is responsible of managing services provided to the public, including waste collection, street cleaning and water supply.
