AS part of an ongoing heritage project, some of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment’s artillery pieces will be exhibited on the site of the Grand Battery.

In order to allow this, work has commenced on the restoration works to the site of the Grand Battery and has already seen the removal of a Second World War blast wall which revealed a series of eighteen century fire steps.

The Grand Battery is one of Gibraltar’s most important military monuments forming part of the Northern Defences which have also been undergoing improvements and restoration works for a number of years now.

The ongoing work will see the placing of safety balustrades as well as additional repair and the removal of trees or plants which have the potential to damage the structure.
