At last, Calpe’s mayor Ana Sala presented Miguel Pastor, Unio Musical Calp-Ifach’s president, with the keys to the band’s new centre! Culminating a long wait for the band’s own premises, Pastor was handed the keys during a concert on the feast-day of Santa Cecilia, patroness of musicians. The town hall and Unio Musical Calp-Ifach first signed a memorandum of understanding in 2006 although it was not until 2016 that the town hall budget included a €250,000 allocation for the municipally-owned building. This was followed by a further allocation in successive years thanks to credit extended by Alicante’s provincial council, the Diputacion.
