Costa Blanca news: Happy memories in Denia

ON SUNDAY December 1 a fundraising event was held drop in centre run by HELP of Dénia in La Xara and was well attended by diners who enjoyed a four-course lunch.
A raffle was held with first prize being a four-course meal for two that had kindly been donated by the Dénia Republic restaurant and was won by a very happy Chris Whitehead.
Many other prizes had been donated therefore many lucky people went home with some goodies.
The charity raised €440 which will be used towards purchasing a special Christmas present for each of the 20 children who live at the residential care home in Dénia.  These children are not orphans but children who, through no fault of their own, have had to be taken into the care of our local authorities. This in itself must be quite traumatic for these children therefore a very small group of volunteers try to organise various events to raise money to provide ‘Happy Memories’ for these young members of our society.  They do this by providing a special Christmas present for each of the children and a shoebox full of little surprises which are handed out by Papa Noel at a party organised by the staff at the home.
