THE talented pianist Javier Herreros enthralled residents in Almuñécar, Spain, with a special concert of great classical works. Hosted at the House of Culture on Monday, December 2, the performance formed part a series of concerts organised by the Almuñécar Youth Musical Group in collaboration with the Department of Culture. The pianist captured the audience through music written by some of the most renowned composers, including Joseph Haydn, Frédéric Chopin, Aleksandr Scriabin and Sergey Prokofiev. Born in Granada in 1991, Javier Herreros Herrero is from a family of musicians who played an important role in teaching music throughout Andalusia. Taught by the great Andrei Reznyk, the pianist studied at the Professional Conservatory of Music, achieving the highest distinctions. With a deep interest in chamber music, Herrero has also been awarded first prize in the Ángel Barrios Conservatory Contest. For those interested in attending the next events organised by Almuñécar Youth Musical Group, the Pedro Mena Children’s Choir will perform a Christmas concert at the Church of Incarnation on December 14.
