CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA: Curtain call for Javea U3A’s performers Photo credit: Javea U3A
JAVEA U3A staged its annual Christmas Extravaganza at the Parador hotel for a capacity audience that lapped up the festive fun. The show, starring committee members and other willing U3A volunteers presented the usual array of festive frolics, including a pantomime with a difference entitled Forty Winks Beauty. There was a troupe of Cheerleaders, the Albert and the Lion monologue and a Two Ronnies-style sketch, What’s My Line. The Extravaganza opened with a performance by the English Choir and concluded with free mince pies and sherry.Javea U3A members are a generous lot and never shy away from raising money for good causes, coming up trumps with two big events recently. One boosted the coffers of the U3A’s nominated charity of the year, Help of Denia and Marina Alta by €750 while the other, the association’s End of Year Lunch, donated €587.32 to the Make a Smile charity’s Pennies from Heaven campaign in aid of the Benissa Orphanage.
