Not money down the drain in Alfaz, Costa Blanca

MAIN drainage has been extended to one of Alfaz’s highest sectors. Work is being carried out between Calle Fiord and the intersection with Calle Pelica and will cost €23,424. “Until now the network of sewers did reach this far,” explained Alfaz’s mayor Vicente Arques when he visited the site with Urban Development councillor Toni Such. “Although there are not very many properties in the neighbourhood, and few villas are involved, neither was it possible for them to continue using septic tanks,” Arques said. The project is being carried out by Hidraqua, responsible for Alfaz’s domestic water supply as well as main drainage, financed by the Sewage System Investment Fund. Future plans envisage optimising the system both in Alfaz and Albir under the 2013 agreement with Hidrqua, which undertook to carry out and finance €5 million of improvements over the following 15 years, Arques added.
