THE traditional San Silvestre run will be held on Friday, December 27, announced Altea’s Sports councillor Pere Barber. The 3.9-kilometre run organised by the town hall and Sportrun will leave the town hall at 8pm. “As always, the experience is the most important thing,” Barber said. “That’s why we ask everyone not to come with the intention of competing, precisely because we want people to have a good time with their friends and families, to dress up and enjoy the Christmas spirit.” Readers wishing to take part should register on the www.sportrun.es website. There is a €5 enrolment fee. “The first 300 to register will receive a gift from the Sports department in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento when they pick up their numbers,” said Barber, who recommended that runners should do this at 7pm to avoid queues and ensure that the race starts on time.
