Caught with three Alabanian Immigrants in the boot of her car

Jackie Willis, 53, of Feltham, West London gets 6 Months for Smuggling three Albanian migrants into the UK in the boot of her car

A British grandmother who tried to smuggle three Albanian migrants into the UK in the boot of her car is now set to spend Christmas in jail. Jackie Willis was arrested three weeks ago after she was caught trying to transport the migrants from Calais to Dover on the Eurotunel. She had reportedly been offered £3,000 by a trafficker to transport the Albanians, and was ‘tempted’ by the easy money, her lawyer said. Willis, a senior manager at catering firm Aramark, wept in court in Boulogne France as she was jailed for six months, but could have been given up to ten years in jail.

Her lawyer, Isabelle Pauwels, told the newspaper: ‘She had a decent job but was tempted by the easy money. ‘She regrets bitterly what she did and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. Prosecutor Pascal Marconville told Willis “you will not be the last Brit tempted by traffickers”. She will serve her punishment in Lille and be barred of France for two years on release. Her family were in court to support her and looked on as she was handed the sentence and began to cry.
