Half Marathon in Alicante to be one of the biggest sporting events on Costa Blanca

EMBLEMATIC: The event will show off Alicante’s main attractions

THE MAYOR of Alicante Luis Barcala, announced route changes that will affect the Half Marathon planned for April 19, 2020. Councillor for Sport, José Luis Berenguer, also took part in the presentation of the 26 Edition of Alicante’s Half Marathon and 10k Aguas de Alicante race.
The new 21-kilometre circuit has been homologated by the Spanish Royal Athletics Federation and will be shared by the 10-kilometre Aguas de Alicante race. The one-lap route, will start at the port and go through the most emblematic areas of the city, ending along the coastline.
According to the Mayor, the half marathon will be one of the most important sporting events of the upcoming year and he added that the marathon had been designed to show off all of Alicante’s main attractions. The date was expressly set after the Easter celebrations, in order to continue boosting and supporting the city’s touristic and commercial sectors. The Mayor highlighted that the race could also serve as extra training for professional athletes who were preparing for the summer 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
