Double Murder Linked to organised crime

A BRITISH tourist has been killed and another is seriously injured after being shot in a suspected robbery in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The pair were reportedly attacked around 11am local time today (December 14) as they were outside a luxury hotel in the capital.

According to media at the scene, both victims were taken to hospital after bravely attempting to fight the robbers off near the entrance to the Faena Art Hotel in the Puerto Madero district of the city. The assailants had tried to steal their belongings and the tourists’ resistance likely led them to being shot.

The two men were given medical attention at the scene before they were rushed to hospital. One man was shot in the chest and succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The other man was shot in the thigh and is fighting for his life in hospital, according to the A24 news channel.

The men were reportedly targeted by at least two assailants who were travelling on a motorbike and fled on a getaway vehicle nearby.

As reported by the Foreign Office, in 2018, over 111,000 British nationals visited Argentina. Tourists are warned to be alert to street crime as armed robberies can be frequent and are advised to hand over cash and valuables without resistance.
