THE MAYOR of Malaga shows no signs of slowing down, as he is set to celebrate his 77 birthday and 20 years in office. On December 21, Francisco de la Torre will celebrate his birthday after almost two decades at the helm of Malaga city.

It seems as though the Mayor isn’t thinking of stepping down any time soon and his recent antics show that he is still in his prime. Recently, he went viral after dancing with Antonio Banderas at the inauguration of the Christmas lights.

And he has also been active on Twitter where he replied to Mariah Carey in a tweet. After the singer thanked Malaga for including her music in the light show, the Mayor invited Mariah to spend some time in the city. However, in a turn of bad translation, he actually sent condolences to the popstar after using the word ‘sympathy’ instead of ‘best regards’. Like other Britons living in Malaga, she probably laughed the mistake off.

Nonetheless, the Mayor continues working with enthusiasm, a word he claims to adore. Even opposition mayors have attested to his vitality, although most of them are waiting for de la Torre to finally pass on the baton.
