SPAIN NEWS: Horror crash as drug driver smashes into car and kills child in Spain

A DEVASTATING road accident has taken place on a highway in Cubelles, Spain, after a driver crashed into the back of another car, resulting in the death of a young child.

As reported by the police, the tragic incident took place yesterday evening (December 17) on the C-32 road near Barcelona, when a man driving at great speed hit the car that was in front of them, causing a severe crash.

After the collision was called in, several units of the police, 2 firefighter crews and 7 ambulances rushed to the scene, where they found multiple individuals seriously injured and a child who had sadly died as a result of the impact.

The driver who was travelling with the child was rushed to hospital where it is reported that they are in critical condition. Two additional passengers in the car were also injured but are believed to be in a stable condition.

The driver of the car that caused the accident suffered minor injuries and a drugs test at the scene revealed that they were under the influence of drugs. The police have subsequently arrested the individual for manslaughter and as Euro Weekly News understands he has been remanded in custody as an investigation has been launched.

The exact age of the child has not been revealed, however police indicate that it was a baby.
