A YOUNG mother has sadly died after she was violently beaten and stabbed at her home while her 6-year-old daughter slept in the next room.
Nadine Lott, 30, was left fighting for her life in hospital after being attacked at her flat in County Wicklow in Ireland just after 4am on Saturday, December 14.
However, her family have now revealed the heart-breaking news that Ms Lott succumbed to her injuries at St Vincent’s hospital yesterday evening with her loved ones by her side. It is understood she had suffered a number of stab wounds in the attack.
The beautician had been looking forward to spending Christmas with her young daughter and was planning to take the girl to Disneyland Paris over the festive season.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community where on Monday, December 16, around 1,000 people attended a candlelight vigil for Ms Lott.
A family friend said Ms Lott’s relatives are devastated following her death and that she was a lovely and beautiful girl that came from a very good family. They added that the murder was everyone’s worst nightmare and made even more difficult considering the time of year.
Daniel Murtagh, 32, from Clondalkin, Co Dublin was arrested in Tallaght Hospital on Saturday morning where he was charged with assault causing harm before Ms Lott died.
The court heard the accused say “sorry” when the charge was put to him where he has since been remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill Court on Thursday, December 19.
As Euro Weekly News understands, his charge is likely to be upgraded to murder.
