COSTA BLANCA NEWS: New Spanish TV series ‘Benidorm’ films scenes in Villajoyosa

SCENES for the new Antenna 3 television series ‘Benidorm’ have been shot in Villajoyosa.
TV and cinema production company Plano a plano, which is behind such Spanish TV hits as Alli Abajo, El Principe and La Verdad, has been filming the story of 50-year old Basque notary Xabier Zurita in locations including the port and Calle Colon
The story line goes that after tragic news changed his life forever, Xabier packed a case and set out for Benidorm, where he met his first love and found true happiness.
The series starring Antonio Pagudo and Maria Almudever is set to air during prime time on Antena 3 and on the Atresplayer Premium platform.
Villajoyosa Mayor Andreu Verdu commented that the local council was always happy to collaborate on this and any activity which gave the municipality exposure to a wide audience. He also said the municipality was beginning to be used regularly for shoots for important national and international productions.
