Car ploughs into front of restaurant in Hale as police scramble

A stolen car has ploughed into a restaurant in Hale, Greater Manchester during a police chase. Dramatic pictures show the front of the Italian restaurant destroyed with the car protruding out. The blue VW Golf is surrounded by bricks, rubble and Christmas decorations that had been hanging outside.

Witnesses reported hearing an “almighty bang” as the car smashed into Dante restaurant on Ashley Road this morning. Police said they were alerted to the incident after a homeowner reported their vehicle had been stolen at around 2.20am. Officers began chasing the car as it had a tracker on it.

It was at that point that they spotted a VW Golf, described as a “tandem car”, which drove off from police. The Golf then crashed into the restaurant. Four men were detained at the scene, the police spokesman said he did not have further details about the arrests.

The men in the car all suffered injuries which were “not life threatening and not life changing”.
