SPAIN NEWS: Serial thieves who preyed on elderly victims caught in Spain

THE POLICE have arrested a man and a woman for allegedly stealing money and valuable possessions from elderly people across Barcelona, Spain.

As reported by the police, the couple used the same method to prey on their victims, where the woman would distract an elderly resident through striking up a simple conversation, allowing her partner to rummage through their bags.

It is believed that the pair committed at least 4 robberies on individuals aged between 73- and 86-years old, where each had difficulty in walking.

When an investigation was launched after a report of a robbery on an elderly man who had his wallet and watch stolen in the Nou Barris district, the police were able to link the couple to a string of other offences.

Once enough evidence was collected, including CCTV footage and collating witness statements, officers carried out a dawn raid on the couple’s home in Calella on Saturday, December 21, where they discovered multiple stolen items.

As Euro Weekly News understands, the pair have been remanded in custody where they are due to appear in court in due course.
