TOBACCO HAUL IN SPAIN’S COSTA DEL SOL: Police Seize 700.000 Euros Worth Of Smuggled Tobacco In Malaga And Cordoba

700.000 euros worth of illegal cigarettes were seized between Malaga and Cordoba.

Nine people of Spanish nationality have been arrested during the operation. An investigation which started at the end of May thanks to the collaboration of citizens.

The National Police were able to unearth a warehouse in the Cordoba town of La Carlota where the majority of the of the illegal cigarettes, which did not have the corresponding cigarette tax stamp on the cartons, were stored. The Carlota warehouse was considered the main storage centre. Other smaller warehouses were used in the capital of Málaga.

As Euro Weekly News understands, nine arrests have been made, for contraband and for belonging to a criminal group, all the individuals arrested were Spanish nationals.

A total of 184,796 cartons of tobacco were confiscated, estimated to have a retail value of 700.000 euros as well as another 17,027.22 € in cash.
