THE first Mojacar Christmas market sponsored by the council and the Parque Comercial shopping centre proved to be a great success, the local authority reported.
The warm, sunny weather on Friday and Saturday ensured good numbers of tourists and residents turned out to browse the selection of stalls set up in the Mojacar Playa Parque Comercial car-park.
Items on sale ranged from hand-made crafts and jewellery to various kinds of foodstuffs, many of which were organic.
Performances by talented singers and entertainers ensured members of the public enjoyed this new initiative.
There was also a fortune-teller offering tarot and palm readings and the chance to get a fun, temporary tattoo.
To get everyone into the festive season swing there was a choreographed parade of elves, a temporary mini ice rink for children and a bouncy castle.
There are already plans to repeat the market next Christmas.
