ADRA council Local Police has identified an individual suspected of trying to burn the open-air library in the Cercado park as an underage youngster.
The local authority also reported police were investigating whether anyone else had taken part in the act of vandalism on December 28, which resulted in a number of the books for public use at the recently inaugurated leisure and cultural space being set on fire.
The council said it was evaluating the cost of the damage, with a view to presenting a claim and for the corresponding sanction to be imposed on those responsible.
The administration said the case file was being handed over to the Guardia Civil to continue with the appropriate administrative and legal processes and to take a statement, and that the incident will be passed to the Juvenile Prosecutor as a case against municipal assets.
