POLICE have launched a manhunt after a woman was stabbed three times in front of her child in an unprovoked attack in London, England.

The horrifying incident took place shortly before 5.30pm yesterday when Josephine Conlon, 36, was attacked from behind as she pushed her child in a pram down Downton Avenue in Streatham, as reported by Scotland Yard.

Witnesses report that the mother screamed ‘I’ve been stabbed’ after she was knifed, where she was left with streams of blood pouring down her face and hunched over her child in an act of protection.

As reported by officers working on the case, her attacker is described as a black man that is approximately 6ft tall wearing dark clothing. Police believe he may have laid in wait before he attacked the mother where he then ran off down the leafy suburban street.

Officers highly suspect that the attacker may have been trying to steal Ms Conlon’s  mobile phone which was found lying on the floor covered in blood a short distance away.

The woman was taken to hospital after the vicious attack and thankfully she is reported by her family to be doing exceptionally well despite the circumstances where her injuries are not being treated as life-threatening. The young child was also unhurt.

Detectives investigating the shocking incident say they are keeping an open mind as to any motive and will conduct a series of forensics work as well as an analysis of local CCTV footage in a bid to catch the man responsible.
