Spain’s sporting hero Rafa Nadal announced as ambassador for Spanish bank Santander

SPAIN’S sporting hero Rafa Nadal has been announced as the ambassador for the Spanish banking group Banco Santander.

Revealing the news today (December 31), a spokesman for the group revealed that Nadal has signed a long term agreement, where the sporting star is set to be a major reinforcement for the image of the brand.

The athlete already has strong connections with the Group since appearing in campaigns for Banesto which was acquired by Banco Santander in 2012. The new deal will see Nadal being used in various promotional projects and events across Spain, aimed at giving visibility to Santander Private Banking globally.

In the wake of the announcement, Ana Botín, the President of Banco Santander summed the deal up simply by saying: “Rafa Nadal has returned home.” She later added that Nadal was one of best athletes in the world and the best Spanish athlete of all time, but that he also has something much more important, which is the shared values of Banco Santander.

Rafa Nadal also expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating how happy he was to be part of the Santander family and to be their new ambassador. Speaking to the Spanish press he said: “It is very exciting to share their winning spirit and values ​​where a daily effort is made to achieve set goals”.

Nadal is widely considered to be one of the best Spanish athletes of all time, currently holding the number one spot in world tennis in the coveted ATP rankings. Born in Mallorca, Spain, the sportsman’s dedication and passion to tennis has driven him to international success.
