THE Costa Almeria in Spain has started the New Year with a shake.
The Instituto Geografico Nacional reported an earth tremor measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, the epicentre one kilometre below the ground in Pechina, just before 10.10am this morning, January 1.
Comments on social media suggest the intensity of the tremor caused a little bit of alarm in the area.
“I was really scared here a few minutes ago. The floor, walls, bed, ceiling trembled… and the noise”… #Almeria #Terremoto, tweeted Patricia F. Bermejo.
“Bloody hell, I thought the ceiling was going to come down”, exclaimed Lluis F. Bonilla.
