Costa Blanca News: Fresh start for Marina Alta with €850,000 grant

The provincial government of Alicante has allocated €850,000 to carry out 11 different projects in Marina Alta. The grant for financially sustainable investments will be distributed among 11 of the 33 municipalities.

Denia will be the municipality to benefit the most, with a grant of €135,000 to redevelop the camí de Sant Joan. The work will be carried out on the street that connects the city centre with one of the residential areas situated at the base of Montgó mountain. The project will focus on the pavement, that has been lifted by tree roots and surrounding vegetation, as well as improving street lighting.

Similar initiatives will be started on Llebeig street in Benitatxell for €94,778 and in Vall d’Alcalà for €91,312. Gata de Gorgos, Sagra and Jesús Pobre will also undertake work in terms of rainfall and sewerage. In Llosa de Camatxo, the Provincial Government will cover costs for the preparation of the plot for a waste treatment plant. Meanwhile, in L’Atzubia, €83,966 have been allocated for new lampposts in the Basetes housing development and the area surrounding Forna Castle.

Javea hasn’t been included in these financial aids, as the municipality has been granted a special plan to build its second sports centre. The facilities will cost €3.66 million and 75 per cent will be paid for by the provincial government of Alicante.
