Costa Del Sol Police Save A Teenage Boy Who Was About To Jump Off A Bridge

A young man, in the Costa del Sol, who had announced his suicide intentions in a WhatsApp group was saved by the swift intervention of Local Police.

The Torremolinos Local Police were able to intercept the young man just as he was about to jump off a bridge over the AP-7 highway. The teenager was found hanging onto the railing with just two fingers, the rest of his body suspended and swaying precariously over the motorway.

The events took place at 12.40pm yesterday at an overpass on the AP-7 motorway as it passed through the town of Torremolinos. Several drivers telephoned the emergency services to warn that there was a boy hanging on the outside of the bridge railing; reportedly threatening to jump onto the road.

Fortunately four local police who were patrolling in the area were able to arrive swiftly to the scene of the incident.

Upon arrival, the officers tried to engage in conversation with the young man, who was minimally restrained by the railing. Although he did not speak, his gestures indicated that he was about to jump off the bridge, as he tiptoed on the outside of the bridge, leaning at times on one foot.

Whilst the officers were talking to the teenager, they were able to stealthily creep up until they were close enough to grab him just as the young man allegedly releasing the two fingers that were holding him to the railing, preventing a fatal fall.

As Euro Weekly News understands, the young man was then taken to the Mental Health Department at the Clinical Hospital in Málaga.
