Car thief copped speeding in stolen vehicle on Costa Almeria

GUARDIA Civil copped a car thief after clocking him driving at high speed on a road in Cuevas del Almanzora.
When a Guardia traffic patrol on duty on the A-332 on the border with Murcia region indicated to the driver of the grey Peugeot 307 he should pull over he instead put his foot down and shot off in the direction of Cuevas town.
He was not only going too fast and risking his own life, he was also putting the safety of other drivers in danger, the Guardia said.
Sure enough the fugitive driver crashed into a wall. He tried to escape on foot, but Guardia officers caught up with him.
It turned out the car had been stolen in Granada and the 31-year old Moroccan was wanted by various courts. There is also a national order for expelling him from the country hanging over his head.
The 31-year old now faces charges for reckless driving and for vehicle theft.
