COSTA BLANCA NEWS: Pedreguer electric vehicle charging point all set

LONG-TERM AIM: The council hopes the municipality will eventually have a network of electric vehicle charging stations. Ajuntament de Pedreguer

A NEW electric vehicle charging point in Pedreguer is all set for use.
The council has now finished installation of the public charging station in the town’s Plaza Mayor having had to move it a few metres for heritage protection reasons, and after the electricity company upped the power strength to the necessary level.
The charging point offers two Type 2 connectors suitable for recharging electric vehicles with a 44kWh battery in approximately one and a half hours. For the moment at least the service is free.
Instructions for use are displayed at the installation.
The council has pointed out that users must register on the necessary smartphone app. A QR code to directly access the app is clearly displayed at the point.
The local authority said the charging point installation was made possible thanks to a grant of just short of €10,000 from the IVACE Valencian Institute of Business Competiveness. The funding came under an IVACE initiative to promote sustainable mobility and improve the quality of the environment through active energy saving and efficiency policies in the transport sector which contribute to reducing energy consumption and the emission of greenhouse and harmful gases.
The council also said the hope is to eventually have a network of the charging stations at different locations in the municipality.
