DECEPTIVE: The driver's disabled father had died in January 2017.
Police in Malaga are investigating a driver who parked in a disabled area with his deceased father’s card. The 57-year-old man was caught by Local Police on the Carretera de Cadiz, where he was using his father’s card for people with reduced mobility.
Police picked up on the card, belonging to a man who died almost three years ago. According to authorities, the driver is being investigated for an alleged crime of document falsification. The documents are non-transferable and can only be used when the owner of the document is one of the occupants of the vehicle.
The intervention began when a patrol car was inspecting the reserved parking spaces. A man and two women raised suspicions when they got into one of the parked cars, without any apparent handicap. Upon seeing the card, officers verified the ownership did not correspond to those present.
The man explained that it was his father’s and got very nervous when police tried to contact the cardholder. Back at the station, officers confirmed that the driver’s father had died in January 2017.
