Dog owner in Spain stabs own pet to death in self-defence

A DOG owner knifed his own pet to death after the animal suddenly turned on him and his wife at their home in Manises in Valencia on Monday night.

The animal, believed to be a large pit bull cross, bit the 36-year man and 40-year old woman several times on the hands and ankles. Spanish media reported that the man’s reaction in the face of the dog’s sudden aggression was to stab it in self-defence.

The couple were both treated for their injuries at the local hospital.

Their three-year old was also in the house at the time, but was unharmed.
