Jon sustained horrific injuries in hit and run accident ( Metropolitan Police )
Hero police officer, Jon Casey, who is in his 30`s, was mown down as he tried to stop a car in north-east London.
His wife, Donna, went on to post the picture of her husband’s injuries on social media in a bid to get witnesses to come forward. The car, a grey Mini Cooper, was seen speeding away from the scene on Chigwel Road, Woodford Green. Officers from the Metropolitan Police are still hunting for the driver, having previously arrested a 29-year-old and 24-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have been released under investigation.
A statement from the Met said:
“Officers indicated for a grey Mini Cooper to stop in Chigwell Hill, near Saint Barnabus Road at about 12.10am. It failed to do so and a pursuit was authorised.
“Officers positioned themselves on Chigwell Road, near Gaynes Hill Road and the M11 overpass, in wait of the vehicle.
“As the vehicle approached, one officer attempted to deploy a Stop Stick (stinger) when he was struck by the car. The vehicle then sped away from the scene.
“The London Ambulance Service attended and the officer, Police Constable Jon Casey was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. His injuries are not life-threatening.”
