Spain rocked with violence as husband lays murder trap for wife by setting house on fire

SPAIN has been rocked by violence after a man attempted to murder his wife by locking her inside their family home and setting it on fire.

The brazen attempt of murder took place yesterday afternoon (January 8) in the quaint Spanish town of Castilleja de la Cuesta which lies in the Andalusian province of Seville, which has sent shockwaves through the local Spanish community.

After a marital dispute, a man decided to set his property on fire and entrap his wife inside, in a callous act of violence. As the blaze ripped through the home, the man rushed outside, locking the front door, giving no means of escape to his wife. Thankfully, a resident heard the woman’s desperate screams for help, where she was shouting to the top of her voice: “I am burning. My husband wants to kill me”. The neighbour then quickly raised the alarm to her son, with both residents running to the woman’s aid.

As smoke billowed into the air and the fire began to take control, the two residents were met by the husband who was blocking entrance to the property’s door. Without thinking, the son pushed the man out of the way and kicked down the door, rushing into the burning property to find the woman. He then heroically picked her up and pulled her outside of the house, whilst his mother made a frantic call for help to the emergency services.

The fire brigade, an ambulance and units of the Local and National Police arrived a short time later, where the husband was immediately put in handcuffs. As firefighters battled the blaze, the victim was rushed to hospital where it is reported that she has suffered considerable burns and severe smoke inhalation.

The National Police have expressed their gratitude to the two residents, who risked their own lives to help save someone in grave danger. Speaking to the local Spanish press, the young man who saved the woman’s life has recounted the harrowing ordeal, where he describes not thinking twice to enter the burning property. He said: “I saw the woman was burning when i was inside. Her hair and clothes were scorched and she was already very red and black from the smoke.”

As Euro Weekly News understands, the man has been charged with attempted murder and has been remanded in custody where he is due to appear in court in due course.
