Costa Blanca News: New reign begins for Benidorm’s fiesta queens

PAULA PEREZ BERENGUER and Sofia Fuster Manchon were officially installed as the queens who will preside Benidorm’s fiestas in November.
Each was crowned by her 2019 predecessor in the l’Illa de Benidorm sports stadium in front of an audience of more than 1,500. Later, both were joined onstage by junior queen Sofia Fuster’s nine attendants and the 18 young women who will accompany Paula Perez unofficial and fiestas’ occasions in the coming year.
Outgoing fiestas’ queens Marina Carrillo Sanz and Paul Mayor Amillo thanked the previous Fiestas Committee, their families and friends as well as Benidorm’s mayor Toni Perez for their help and support throughout the year.
Previously, the town hall’s Fiestas councillor, Jesus Carrobles presented each of them with a replica of the crowns that they received a year ago. The event was compered by Pere Rostoll, the Diario Información journalist, who began by highlighting the importance of the fiestas’ queen’s role. He went on to describe his own experiences and those of his friends and family during the Benidorm fiestas before concluding with a call to maintain popular culture and traditions.
