THE Scottish national women’s rugby team triumphed over Spain’s ‘Las Leonas’ in an exciting international staged at Almeria city’s Juan Rojas stadium on Sunday.
A huge, good natured crowd watched as the Scottish side dominated almost from the start to gain a well-deserved 36-12 victory, although the Spanish side made a great effort.
Scottish centre Hannah Smith stood out as the game’s top player, Spanish press describing her as like a “knife who knew how to find the holes.”
Spain’s defeat means the national team loses points in the World Rugby ranking, although the team remains in a good position to quality for the next women’s rugby World Cup next year.
