Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said tonight that he will meet with the leader of Catalonia region Quim Torra during the first week of February.
It’s deemed as the first opportunity to fulfil a pledge he made to get the support of a separatist party in Spain’s Parliament.
Sanchez had promised Esquerra Republicana to open a round of talks over the future of the region with Catalan leaders in a swop deal for the party’s crucial abstention during his investiture in Parliament.
Sanchez addressed the Spanish nation tonight on Spanish TV and said “If we propose the vote of an agreement, it is to unite Catalans, not to fracture and divide them”
