Costa del Sol News: Art in action at The Gran Hotel Benahavis

ON February 2 The Gran Hotel Benahavis will open its doors to host the annual Art Exhibition organised by the Arts Society Benahavis.

There will be a variety of artwork on show from painting and sculpture to jewellery and ceramics with over 30 artists available to talk about their techniques and inspiration.

A highlight of the day will be the Young Artist’s Competition when Key Stage 2 students from local schools show their paintings. The theme is to provide an image to illustrate one of the Society’s upcoming lectures on its brochure. In addition to the winners having his or her image printed on the cover of the brochure, there are also three cash prizes donated by Blevins Franks.

For those not content with just watching, The Arts Club San Pedro offers the opportunity to take part in their “Sip and Dip” painting project. Complete a small sketch that will later be revealed to be a crucial part of a bigger picture. Those with a literary turn of mind can enter the light-hearted “Start a Novel” competition with the chance to win a bottle of wine for the most compelling opening paragraph.

Getting feet tapping will be Manuela and her Reggae and Dance Duo to liven the day with hot rhythm.
