Woman killed in Spain in front of her children in suspected gender-based violence attack

A WOMAN was killed in front of her children in La Puebla de Almoradiel in Toledo in the early hours of Wednesday morning in a suspected case of gender-based violence.

According to Spanish media reports the 43-year old was stabbed.

Her 50-year old partner is under arrest.

Castilla-La Mancha Equality minister and regional government spokesperson Blanca Fernandez condemned the attack on Twitter. She said the victim leaves behind the couple’s two children who had “witnessed the horrendous crime.

“When is this going to stop”, she asks, adding, “this is what we want to prevent, hence the importance of education.”

If this is confirmed as a gender-based violence attack this would make the victim the fourth woman to die at the hands of her partner of former partner since the beginning of the year.
