Jacket of Missing Brit, Ben Garland, Found Days After Being ‘Swept Into The Sea’ In Spain’s Ibiza During Storm Gloria

Jacket of missing Brit found days after he vanished as Storm Gloria battered Spain.

Ben Garland, 25, disappeared on Tuesday in the Portinatx area of ​​the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja, in Ibiza, Spain. Rescue workers believe he fell into the sea during the violent storms which have hit Spain.

Spanish coastguards searching for Ben Garland said the jacket had been found around 300 metres off the coast at Punta des Gat near the beach where Ben is believed to have vanished on Tuesday afternoon as Storm Gloria lashed the area.

Alarm grows for Ben’s well-being on the discovery of the jacket which had his ID in a pocket.

In a statement, a spokesman for a regional authorities has confirmed: “The jacket of the young British man who disappeared in Portinatx has been found at sea.

“Coastguards discovered it around 300 metres off the coast from Punta des Gat.

In a heartbreaking announcement, Ben’s bus driver dad Mark, who has flown to Ibiza to join in the search has said: “I think we now have to accept the worst possible news that our Ben isn’t coming home.

“Everyone that knew Ben knew what a kind caring lad he was and he always entered a room with a smile on his face.

“The authorities over here have been amazing and have never given up the hope of finding Ben alive.”

But now Mark says he is prepared for the worst after his son’s jacket was found.

Just moment earlier Mark had posted on Facebook: “Just a quick update on my son Ben Garland.

“There has not been any sightings of him as of yet.

“We have had to come down from the cliff tops as the dogs are now searching a large area.

“There are lots of police, fire and rescue plus volunteers out looking and the lifeboat is scouring the coastline.”

Mark also thanked everyone who has helped to raise funds to aid with searching for Ben: “Can we as a family thank every single one of you for your messages of support and prayers being sent.”

Ben, from Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, is one of three people who are still missing in the following the start of Storm Gloria, which began battering many parts of Spain this week.
