YOU have only 100 very special ‘special edition’ cars, its January. Where and when do you launch them? Obvious really; St Moritz on ice of course, playing a Polo match, where else? January 20, 2020 and the Snow Polo World Cup 2020 is holding its 36th edition.

An elite and fun occasion making use of the lake which has frozen solid. Well solid enough for a Polo match or two and certainly solid enough to drive a car on. This year’s winners the St Moritz team after beating Team Azerbaijan 4 to 1 ½ in the Snow World Cup Final, Official Sponsor Maserati the Italian car maker.

Maserati took the opportunity to launch the new Levante Royale Special Series. Limited to just 100 examples across the range of V6 engines including the Quattroporte, Levante and Ghibli Royale.

A talking point in the village  besides the Polo of course was the presentation of the Maserati Levante Royale. The SUV took pride of place in the Polo Village with guests admiring its elegant yet dynamic lines.

Throughout the history of the marque Maserati has created exclusive series, amongst them the 1986 Royale version of the third generation Quattroporte. Styled with exclusive blue and green interiors, soft leather seats and extensive wood in the dashboard and door panels. Just 51 examples were produced.

Acknowledging and paying tribute to its heritage, the launch of the current series bearing the same name Royale is available in two exclusive colours ‘Blu Royale’ and ‘Verde Royale’ and featuring the 21” bespoke Anteo Staggered Anthracite wheels and silver brake calipers.

The interiors are based on the GranLusso version; elegance and exclusivity of the Levante Royale through its materials; Pelletessuta Cuoio [tan] leather by Ermenegildo Zegna or the two tone leather in Black/Tan, high gloss metal net finishes and the distinctive ‘One of 100’ plate as well as a Bowers & Wilkins Sound System, electric sunroof and tinted windows.

The Royale Special Series also benefits from a full package of driver assistance packages fitted as standard. Its advance driving assistance systems actively responds to potential road hazards and improves comfort and safety of driver and passengers.

As does the rest of the range the Royale Special Series features the Maserati Touch Control Plus [MTC+] unit. An 8.4” touch screen interface placed in the centre of the dashboard and is very straightforward to use. The MTC+ controls all of the key vehicle functions including the front seat heating ventilation and steering wheel heating.

With first deliveries scheduled to begin in March 2020 with the series Limited to just 100 examples, orders may still be placed with prices starting at £79,000 for the Ghibli, £85,000 for the Levante and £103,000 for the Quattroporte.
