Javea pays Storm Gloria’s cleaning billJAVEA town hall calculated that cleaning up and repairing municipal property in the aftermath of Storm Gloria has cost €440,000. Damage to the town’s promenades and public roads require an outlay of €235,000, revealed Javea’s mayor Jose Chulvi. The Paseo David Ferrer on the Arenal beach, which was the worst-affected of the town’s seafront promenades, needs €145,000 to return it to its original state, Chulvi said. A further €156,635 corresponded to street lighting, road signs, street furniture, trees and rubbish bins while repairs to municipal buildings are expected to cost €48,500. Although the Casa del Cable cultural centre was the worst-affected by the storm, the €20,500 cost of repairs will be covered by the insurance.
