American Airlines sued for ousting a Jewish couple aboard a flight

A Jewish couple sues American Airlines for discrimination, claiming they were not permitted to fly for what an employee called “extremely offensive body odour”.

Yehuda Yosef Adler, Jennie Adler and their then-19-month old daughter were flying from Miami to Detroit on the 23rd of January 2019 when a flight attendant said there was an emergency and they would have to get off the flight, according to the lawsuit.

They were reportedly told they had been taken off the plane due to their body odour, at the behest of the pilot. Yehuda Adler had already had an argument with the pilot over a pair of headphones.

According to the lawsuit, the pilot replied when asked for another pair of headphones: “We don’t offer anything complimentary,” in a distasteful manner.

The couple claimed to have both showered that morning.

‘The Adlers are being pressured to see their race and religion as inferior to that of whites, dirty and unwelcome,’ says the lawsuit.
