Costa Blanca’s Alfaz is commemorating the Sierra Helada national park’s 15th anniversary by creating an Environment Volunteers’ group. The town’s 18-square kilometre area is home to animal species and plants whose ecosystems are in need conservation and protection, the town hall environment department explained. The Voluntariado Ambiental group is open to everybody interested in conserving Alfaz’s natural surroundings, nature and the environment. Volunteers can contribute by fire-watching, planting trees and native plants, participating in countryside clean-up days or giving talks in schools and social centres on Alfaz’s heritage and culture. The group is organised by Ricardo Barreno and those interested in joining the group should email rbarreno@lalfas.com or contact the town hall environment department.
