Indoor pool in Costa Almeria’s Huercal-Overa reopens following urgent repairs

NECESSARY: The Mayor said the false ceiling had to be reinforced to guarantee safety CREDIT: Ayuntamiento de Huercal-Overa

HUERCAL-OVERA’S indoor pool has reopened to the public following important repairs.
The council said the works involved reinforcing the interior of the central false ceiling in order to guarantee its safety.
At the same time, repairs were carried out to a broken pipe, which the local authority attributed to a lack of maintenance, and which made it necessary to completely empty the main pool.
Huercal-Overa Mayor Francisca Lourdes Fernandez explained the breakage occurred in the early hours of January 12, and that the necessary repair works were started immediately.
Making the most of the pool being empty it was decided to replace a ceiling panel. Following an inspection the maintenance staff recommended reinforcing the system for holding the panels in place.
“It was a situation which obliged us to act immediately and urgently”, the Mayor commented.
After the repairs had been completed the main pool was refilled, chlorinated and heated, and once the chemical analyses demanded under health laws had been carried out the pool opened its doors once again.
The council said it is now planning new activities at the pool for the holiday period “to continue improving the services offered to users who enjoy the facilities daily.”
