The Oscar winner actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian, 44, has teamed with Microsoft Education to help launch BBC My World.

The new programme airs on BBC World News Sundays at 4:30 p.m. GMT and is targeted to young audiences, in their teens. The aim behind the programme is to fill the current gap in new reporting that doesn’t cater for young adults.

The intention with the BBC World Service is to to provide a truly global perspective on the biggest stories and themes of the day. Encouraging young people to understand how the news is made and the values that stand behind it. In such a way that the younger generations can distinguish the real from the false online news.

The programme also hopes to nurture young adults’ skills to think critically about information, which in turn is crucial for personal development and for the future health of global democracy.
